Severe Weather

The Bedford Area School District is always monitoring a variety of information sources in an effort to keep our students and staff safe.  It is one of our most important missions.  The district is currently monitoring the remnants of hurricane IDA as it approaches central Pennsylvania.  Currently, NOAA has a flash flood watch for Bedford County.  NOAA explains the ground is already saturated and they are predicting considerable rain.  Given the number of residents and roads impacted by floods, we take potential flash floods very seriously.

Out of an abundance of concern and to help parents plan for the potential impacts of flooding, the Bedford Area School District will operate virtually on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.  Students will remain home and will use their iPads to engage in instructional activities.  Also, all sporting events and activities are canceled on Wednesday evening.

Additionally, the district will continue evaluate any flooding throughout Wednesday evening and plans to notify parents and students on Wednesday evening regarding Thursday’s school day.   Please be patient with us throughout this weather event as we work diligently to assess roads conditions and communicate regularly with you.
