COVID-19 UPDATE (10-14-2020)

In an effort to keep the Bedford Area School District’s community informed about the spread of COVID-19, we want to update you regarding the current status of COVID-19 cases in the district.  Currently, the district is managing five positive cases, forty-two close contacts, and monitoring six suspected cases.  It appears as if the local school district is mirroring the county-wide trend.  Please remember the district provides a dashboard of active cases and suspected cases at https://www.bedfordasd.org/covid-19-information--117.

The Bedford Area School District actively monitors the spread of COVID-19 and has numerous measures in place to ensure a safe and stable environment for students and staff.  The District promotes social distancing in all school functions and works with parents and students to maximize the use of face coverings.  Also, our hybrid schedule offers educational stability.  The hybrid schedule, in numerous situations, alleviated the need to quarantine other students and classmates, which would lead to constant and irregular disruptions in the educational process.

Recently, the District experienced a situation outside of the hybrid model in the form of a sports team.  In this situation, one positive COVID-19 case led to the quarantine of the entire team.  To be clear, one positive case led to the quarantine of over twenty-five individuals; our largest quarantine to date.

The Bedford Area School District sincerely asks the community, parents, and students to continue to support our mission to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  Please continue to do your part by washing your hands, wearing a mask, and engaging in social distancing.  If you have symptoms or believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19, please contact your building administration and do not come to school or school activities.  For current information on COVID-19, please visithttps://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Guidance/School-Health-FAQ.aspx.

We appreciate your trust as we attempt to do our best to keep your children safe in these challenging times.  Like you, we long for normalcy at some point in the near future.
