Attention: The Bedford Area School District is impatiently awaiting clarification following the Governor’s recent update about sports. We are optimistic spectators may permitted at some sports in the near future, but we require additional information from the State, PIAA, and the Laurel Highlands before we can open events. Although we are optimistic about future events, unfortunately, we still cannot permit spectators at the soccer scrimmage tonight (weather permitting) and the football scrimmage on Friday evening.
Attention: The home golf match for today against Penn Cambria has been postponed due to weather.
Live Streaming of Athletic Events: The Bedford Area School District will be streaming home athletic events. Links to the games will be posted on the district and athletic website. The district will also provide a push notification prior to the contest with a link provided. These live streams will be free of charge and also provide archives of previous recorded contests.

Spectators at Athletic Events
Under the current state guidelines, the Governor of PA and DOH mandate no spectators at athletic events and scrimmages. Due to these guidelines, the BASD in conjunction with the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference will not permit spectators to attend athletic events. Spectators are prohibited on school property during contests. The District must follow these guidelines or risk stopping and ultimately forfeiting competitions due to the presence of spectators. The BASD understands these orders are not popular with our community; however, we must comply in order to give our student athletes the chance to play their respective sport. We are hopeful to get some relief to these mandates and be able to allow some spectators into our facilities in the future.

Does the Governor's Targeted Mitigation Order apply to school sports?
Yes, the Order applies to school sports.
Indoor sporting events and gatherings of more than 25 persons are prohibited.
Outdoor sporting events and gatherings of more than 250 persons are prohibited.
Sports-related activities at the PK-12 level are limited to student athletes, coaches, officials, and staff only. Band and cheer are also allowed in a sports setting, but individuals involved in such activities count towards gathering limitations and must comply with face covering order and social distancing guidelines. Attention: With the beginning of Fall Sports practices to begin Monday, August 24th, athletes will be practicing after school starting at 3:45. Update: The PIAA Voted today to delay the fall sports season by two weeks. Mandatory practices will begin on August 24th. Voluntary summer workouts may continue until the first practice date. Coaches will be reaching out to athletes with updates about summer workouts.

The lights of Bison Stadium will shine tonight, April 9th, at 8:20 pm for 20 minutes to recognize and show empathy for the Bisons class of 2020. Additionally, the Bedford Area School District would like the display to be a symbol of hope for students, staff, and the entire Bedford community, serving as a reminder of the brightness each new day brings, with continued optimism for a return to our normal lives.
We encourage everyone to follow social distancing guidelines and not gather at or near the high school during the event. As always, the Bedford Area School District stands united with the Bedford community during this crisis. Bison Pride!
