Mrs. Zimmerman’s 1st grade class started a project for military veterans in November. Through Stars for Our Troops, Mrs. Zimmerman obtained stars that are recycled from tattered American flags. Students then made cards for veterans and mailed each one a star. The class has gotten thank you notes from the veterans that received the cards. As an extension activity, the students recycled old Christmas cards and turned them into new cards to send to residents at Donahue Manor.
