1st grade students in Mrs. Zimemrman’s class recently learned about penguins. Students read Ready, Freddy! The Penguin Problem in ELA class, and wanted to adopt a penguin as an extension activity. Students asked for donations of pennies and were able to raise $76. This was enough to adopt their penguin and a polar bear from the Pittsburgh Zoo. The donations help to provide food, enrichment, and medical care for the animals.
