Dear Parents / Guardians,

Once again, the teachers and students of Bedford Middle School are preparing for the PSSA exams.  It goes without saying that the results of these exams are very important to the parents, students, and the school.   This data gives us valuable insight to the effectiveness of our programs and teaching strategies. It is imperative that students try their best in order to give us a reliable look at their progress from one year to the next.  Many of the students will take several exams this year, which can lead to testing fatigue.  I ask that parents help us by reinforcing to their children the importance of good health prior to the exam.  Research indicates that students perform better when they get a good night’s rest and eat breakfast before the tests.  Breakfast is provided for free to all students starting at 7:45am each school day.  I also ask that you encourage your child to be sincere and positive about the exams.  A healthy body and a positive attitude will help our students do their best!

For the last two school years, Bedford Middle School has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top middle schools in the State based upon our Math and English scores on the PSSA Exam.  I am very proud of the students and staff for this recognition. Let’s try for three years in a row!

Sincerely,

Shane Bingman
