PSSA

Dear Parents / Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you and your child well and enjoying the spring weather! I am writing to inform you about the upcoming state testing schedule for your child.

State assessments will be administered on the following dates:

  • April 21, 22, 23 – ELA PSSA

  • April 27 and 28 – Math PSSA

  • April 30 and May 1 – Science PSSA for 8th grade only

The results of these exams are very important to the parents, students, and the school.   This data gives us valuable insight to the effectiveness of our programs and teaching strategies. It is imperative that students try their best in order to give us a reliable look at their progress from one year to the next. Testing will begin after morning announcements at approximately 8:15 a.m.

For the last three school years, Bedford Middle School has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top middle schools in the State based upon our Math and English scores on the PSSA Exam.  I am very proud of the students and staff for this recognition. Let’s try for four years in a row!

To help your child do their best, please ensure they:

  • Get a good night’s sleep before each test day

  • Eat a healthy breakfast (Breakfast is free for all students in the BMS cafe)

  • Bring their iPad fully charged

Attendance during testing is very important, as these assessments help measure your child’s academic progress and inform instructional planning for our teaching staff.

If your child is absent on a scheduled testing day, arrangements will be made for a makeup session.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed.

Sincerely,

Shane Bingman
