Club Information: Bots IQ is a club that was started in 2013 for students to be introduced to the careers in the manufacturing field. Students build 15-pound competitive battle bots using titanium, high strength aluminum, steel, UHMW, various other plastics, different brushless motors for operation, gearbox’s, batteries, and other electrical components. Students then compete at state level competitions and National level competitions. Students also learn important skills that can be used throughout their lives. Some of the lifelong skills students learn are teamwork, project management, communication, working under pressure, time management, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Along with designing and build a battle bot students also have to document the entire design and building process in an engineering binder. The binder is made up of 17 different sections and is around 120 student created pages of information and drawings on how and why the battle bot was designed and built when complete.

BotsIQ is a manufacturing workforce development program of the Pittsburgh Chapter National Tooling & Machining Foundation whose goal is to provide a pathway for middle and high school students to learn about rewarding career options in manufacturing.
